Sister Shelia Dyson
came forward uplifted in a spirit of divine love and
praises to God for the role she had in planning activities
to recognize and show appreciation for senior members,
whom she deemed worthy of the recognition; because they are
our examples. She proceeded with the procession by reading
the name of each person as they were escorted into their
seat by the ushers and given a red rose.
Elder Martha Gibson,
Sister Gerald Reed and our musicians set in motion an
expression of spiritual joyfulness for this auspicious
monumental occasion in recognizing our seniors, the
trailblazer of God’s divine order in the church, as they
led the congregation in singing “God is a Good God” which
expressed a truth for all the seniors that only by God’s
mercy and grace we’ve reach this stage of longevity. While
the saints were rejoicing in praises the call was made for
altar prayer and Elder Joshua Fairley, (who was visiting
the service today) prayed the intercessory prayer while
the saints were assembled at the altar. After the prayer
Elder Willie Whitlock read the scripture from Roman 12: 1-2
listed below.
I Beseech you therefore,
brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect will of God.
Following the
scripture reading Elder Martha Gibson called for the
ministry of giving, and Elder Linda Jones prayed for the
tithes and offering. Following, Elder Martha Gibson gave the
announcements, recognition of visitors, and birthdays.
Following the
announcements Sister Shelia Dyson came forward and called
for Quenton Jones to seat the reigning senior queen,
Mother Gazelle Jones (his grandmother). She explained this
will be her final day for the title and a new person will
be crowned. Sister Carroll Frazer came forward and read a
special tribute to the person who would become the senior
King and that person was Brother Joel Gibson (our
web-master) He was seated by his wife Mother Mary B.
Gibson. The crown was placed on his head by his son
Christopher Gibson and Jennifer Gibson (his
daughter-in-law) sang a song as a special tribute to him
as our first senior king. After crowning of the king,
Mother Gazelle Jones came forward and crowned the incoming
queen Mother Katie Wilson. She was seated by her daughter
and Brother Albert Pittman sang a song as a special
tribute to her since her son was out of town and could not
be in service today.
After the crowning
ceremony Mother Gazelle Jones gave word and thanks to
Sister Dyson our sponsor for the privilege of serving as
the first senior queen of the church, also for her caring
and special concern she shows for the senior members.
Words of thanks were given by Sister Dyson our
sponsor. She came forward and read the proclamation
from Ephesians 6: 10-18 to the newly selected King and
Queen. Following the reading, Apostle Moses Gibson came
forward with words and allowed remarks from Elder Joshua
Fairly. He came forth with words and sang a solo. After
the song, Elder Martha Gibson came forward with the final
words and dismissal while reminding the audience dinner
will be served in the gym.
